A financial manager is responsible for managing and controlling the financial matters of a company. In large corporations you will oversee the functions of financial employees appointed to take care of specific aspects of the financial division, but in smaller companies you will be responsible for performing all the tasks yourself. The duties of a financial manager include regular evaluation of the company’s performance against budgets and targets, drawing up budgets, submitting the company’s tax returns, recording, analysing and interpreting financial information relating to the company, and regularly updating senior management and reporting financial problems immediately so that suitable strategies can be devised to avoid disaster.
